When I was 14 my family moved to a large,old and very beautiful farm house out in the country. It was about 80 years old and had at one time been a bording house. We knew little of it's history at that time and still to this day do not know much of other than a few odds and ends. Over the years I was to see and hear many strange things in that house but for now I will just recount a small little happening.

It was the summer of my 15th year and is often the case with teenagers during the summer I was at home watching T.V. As I recall it was about noon or a little after. I was sitting on the couch with our little house dog Gimli. All of a sudden Gimli sat straight up and bounded over to the steps which led to the second level of our home and began to bark and growl furiously. Now this was very strange as she was normally a very sweet and gentle dog. I looked over in that direction wondering what was going on. Then I heard it.

It sounded like a woman in high heeled shoes. The sound started in the bathroom which is in the back of the house upstairs and walked into the hall past my bedroom and into my parents bedroom. I was at this point somewhat freaked out as I knew I was the only one at home, and my dog was going crazy. The "woman" walked twice around my parents bedroom and then back out into the hall and headed down the steps.

Now I had an excellent view of the steps as I was only about 5 feet away from them, and I saw nothing although I could certainly hear the woman walking. I was begining to shake with fear and for some reason ( I still don't know why I did this as it seems silly thinking of it now) I jumped up and said "Who is there?" or something like that and it just stopped. My dog carried on for a few seconds longer then came back over beside me on the couch.

That was not the last time I heard the "woman" I heard her several more times over the summer and my foster sister Jackie was even with me once so I was not the only one to hear this. I never heard it after that summer, although I heard and saw many other things in that house. I often wonder why I never did hear her again and it makes one ask who was she?
