I was working in Eureka Springs, And a few summers ago and was staying in a fairly new house. Eureka does have a history of having unusual things happen especially in the historic downtown. This house was up on a secluded mountain. There was a main house and a guest house. Myself and three other girls were staying in the guest house. We seemed to have problems from day one. I'll just talk about the two major problems. First of all about a month into the summer there were only two of us in the house one night. We both awoke and were staring at the windows that were to our right. She was on the bottom floor and I was on the top. I felt like there was something on the right side of my window and was terrified. I just felt overwhelming evil. I said a prayer and went right back to sleep thinking nothing more of it. The next morning I was talking to the other girl in the house and she described the exact same feeling, same side of the window and everything. She sai! ! d she just knew that someone was standing outside her window but was too scared to get up and take a look.

We continued on with no major problems, except the girl who was staying up in the upstairs loft with me became spooked and decided to sleep on the first floor with the other 2 girls. We had had some very strange experiences in other places in the town and she had had about all she could take.

On the 4th of July my brother was bringing me home from a visit with our parents and we came home to find every light in the house on. Lamps were on. Closet lights were on. Even lights in rooms we never went into were on. We didn't have our key so we had to wait for the other girls to get home. When they did we asked them why they had turned all the lights on. (We had just been chastized by the owner of the house the day before for leaving lights on when we left) They said they had made sure and turned all the lights off, before they left so we wouldn't get in any more trouble with the owner. When we got into the house we realized that every bulb was turned on in every room as we went around and turned them off. We were really spooked so we made my brother stay in the house that night in case anything wierd happened. We asked the owners if they had been in the house and they said they hadn't as they had been gone all weekend, and no one else had a key.

That's about it really. Nothing else unusual happened in our last month. We were always a little uncomfortable alone after that. Someday I'll have to tell you about the strange goings on in the church that we worked with.
