Great -- while all your friends are complaining about having to buy their girlfriends gifts for Valentine's Day, you wish you had someone to buy gifts for -- or at least someone to buy gifts for you. Yes, Valentine's Day is the day of love, romance and passion, but that doesn't mean that you don't deserve to make the day memorable.
Remember, Valentine's Day is really a Hallmark holiday, and just another way to justify getting chocolates for our significant other.
So even if you won't be receiving chocolates or other goodies, there are plenty of ways to spend Valentine's Day if you're single and still have a good time; so don't even think about picking up that phone to call your ex-girlfriend.
1. Call Up Your Buds
Gather up your friends that are also unattached (or just weren't suckered into doing something with their girlfriends on that day) and have a blast. Go out for some drinks, shoot some pool, and then cap the night off with some more great drinks, music and old dirty jokes. Who ever said you need a woman to have fun?
2. Have A Party
Invite all your single friends or those whose dates are unavailable, and have a bash at your bachelor pad. Get some cocktails, appetizers and music going, and make the night memorable by taking it easy with your close friends. This is a great option if you don't want to spend the night alone.
3. Attend A Party
If you're invited to a party, then go -- with or without a date. No one said that you couldn't participate in Valentine's Day activities if you don't have a Valentine. Hey who knows, you may arrive home with a "momentary" Valentine.
4. Veg Out
If you've had a hard day at work and just feel like kicking back and lounging at home, then bring home your favorite meal, watch TV, and rent those movies that you've always wanted to watch but never had the chance to. The point is to watch whatever you want, and thank your lucky stars you have the remote all to yourself (although no woman would stand a chance anyway).
5. Treat Yourself
Go to the new restaurant you've always wanted to try, get yourself that Gucci shirt you've seen on display for weeks now, purchase the cool mags for your car, and just treat yourself like gold. Do what you enjoy doing most and feel good about yourself.
6. Treat A Friend
Valentine's Day is about love and thanks, but no one said that that's limited to a girlfriend. So go out of your way and do something nice to show your appreciation for a friend, your family, or a co-worker who's really been there for you.
7. Hang Out With A Cool Chick
Spend quality time with your female friend that you feel close to. Who knows, maybe a night of two lonely souls might lead to more casual encounters.
8. Do The Usual
Go about your daily, usual routine, and you won't even feel like the day is any different. Go to work, then workout, go home, check your e-mail, and watch the nightly news. You'll fall asleep, it'll be the 15th of February, and nothing would have changed (except for your ab muscles that are really starting to show thanks to your workout).
