David E.J. Perez
Poem

Games Gods Play

Light the candle Malaguena
Drink the milk from the night-sky
Embrace me with a thousand arms
And wipe the million tears I cry.

Then tear me up and cast my flesh
Up to the ocean-river sky
And make my blood the space
Where planets rest and angels fly.

Pray to my perfection
And smother me with your affection
For I'm a just and jealous God
Who cannot tolerate defection.

Wonder not about my absence
Or if I live at all and breathe
I will always be here watching
Repent at once your evil deeds!

But when I tire of that posture
Pull me back down into your womb
And give me life within this world
Where all great things are consumed.
