Kinship

On this lonely journey
I see your face my brother.
Silently you pass me as if
I did not exist,
And I pretend that you are the
Alien of long ago!
It was not always like that my brother.
Deep within our hearts lie memories
Of long lost days.
Do you recall the beautiful eyes of the
One who gently carried you in her womb.
The one who felt your first heartbeat.
The strong hands that lifted you when in
Joy you said Father.
The warmth of the hearth at winter nightfall.
You smile at me now. That is the true you!
Farewell my brother, someday...
