Robert William Gruhn
Poem

Pixilations of my Youth

Thinking I was crazy
Not understanding the truth
Confusion fraught with thoughts so whimsical
Parents so misunderstanding
Often so critical
Should I give in to them or just cater to my friends
Heart aches for my mother
Must try to make amends
As adulthood's shadow slowly closed this major gap
I realized they'd saved me from my adolescent trap
There always will be heroes that this writer will have praised
But none to equal Mom and Dad for this son that they have raised
