Poem

The Serenity of Sleep

Dancing moonbeams
Peer with wonder
Through the window by my bed
Softly lighting loosened faces
Cradling the weary heads.
Stars that shimmer,
Sparkle, glimmer
Burst with color
As they sleep
Only those whose dreams permit it
Get to view this showy feast
I am one who rests in peace
In the hour of the stars
But I'm captive to this monster
Keeping me in sterile jars.
I welcome every silver strand
(Moonbeams; trails of fairies)
Leading me to slumber blessings:
Bittersweet like berries.
Slumber blesses one with hours
Spent with thought relief
Only then to open eyes
And meet again with Grief.
