Joseph E. Whimple
Poem

Hobo

Old man nearly thirty
many more years show than he is
wrinkled skin
dirty clothes
long time since bathing

Old cowboy hat
torn coat
holes in his shoes
I can see his toes

Travels by midnight express
flatcar or boxcar
whatever he can catch

Town to town
state to state
no place to call home
'cept that old train car

Lives free and dies free
all he ever wanted to do
on that old railroad
